Elizabeth Degefe is a Research Associate in Duke University’s Samuel Dubois Cook Center on Social Equity and a Research Scholar in the Fuqua School of Business. She is a diversity scholar with a specialty in AI methods.

Her primary stream of research focuses on balancing human and algorithmic capabilities to generate theoretical insights and advance the use of AI technologies as a research tool.

Her second stream of research focuses on improving critical engagement with AI by identifying approaches to improve people's AI literacy and comprehension of AI systems' impacts on inequality.
